I’m a huge fan of Lost. Unfortunately, I’ve never had the time to piece together the show’s between-season Alternate Reality Games, but those who do are currently buzzing about the new art print created by Styl.us member Olly Moss. Moss is well known for his cheeky Saul Bass-influenced style, and it’s in full effect here. Raz wins Infectious Deck Contest

Ramsey’s won 1st Prize in Infectious’ First Five Skate Decks Design Challenge Contest with his skateboard deck design “The Brawl”. Congrats Raz!

From a small interview they’ve done with Raz on Infectious:

“Infectious: CAN YOU SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PIECE AND HOW YOU CONCEIVED OF IT?

Raz: At the time I was thinking of a cool pattern in the vein of M.C. Escher. I thought I’d try to sketch out people interlocking which looked more like a mob of people fighting. That inspired the brawl scene. I wanted it to be more aggressive way – and what’s more aggressive than a bar fight? I needed to limit the color palette to keep the illustration from becoming too busy. It took a while to get everyone connecting with somebody. I wanted each person to be dishing out some blows to somebody but to also be receiving some as well and that took some time to get down.”

It’s a fun idea where you have to distill your self down to what you think are your essentials, all because of the time constraint.

Coloring Comics the Steve Hamaker Way: Episode 1!

I’ve been working on coloring some illustrations for a proposal. I had been isolating my line art through channels and various other methods, when I came across this tutorial on a quick and easy way to get your line work on it’s own layer without having to worry about channels or the like. The tutorial is by Jeff Smith’s colorist Steve Hamaker.

It’s really fantastic. I was losing some lines with other methods (lots of rain drops), but not with this one. Thanks Steve!
